On The Horizon

One scheme has yet to appear in the XIH Boxcar series.  The CP Rail "multimark" scheme will make it's debut in the fifth release.  The Okee freight car red repaint scheme also is forthcoming.  As with the NH and BAR repainted cars in the third and fourth releases, variations of other schemes will be released to depict their appearances in later years.  Below is the artwork for the CP Rail scheme just after the new graphics were instituted and before the roofwalks were removed.

In Development

The testing of our new extended draft gear coupler pocket developed for the X58 boxcar continues.  Two resin rapid prototypes are being put through the paces.  One has Micro-Trains couplers installed and the other has Accu-Mate couplers installed.  The models have performed perfectly.  A video of the first testing was posted on our YouTube page last month which consisted of how the model tracked, its appearance in the setting and initial coupler pocket performance.

For those who have subscribed since the last newsletter, here is the close-up digital representation view that was first shown in the October issue:

NOTE: due to the body-mounted couplers, accurate ride height and car length, the model will not traverse 9¾ inch radius curves.  Ten-inch radius minimum is required, eleven-inch radius and greater is recommended.

A new in-progress video has been posted on YouTube, as the testing of our rapid prototype X58 models continues.  Click on the icon above or photo below to see how the model performs under load and while traveling through tight radius curves while coupled to equipment with truck-mounted couplers.
